{7th day of christmas: diy snowglobe card}

Since I'm on a card crafting kick (say that five times fast), today's craft is another Christmas card. Rather than a pop-up design, however, we're going to make interactive snowglobe cards! You're intrigued, right? They're fun to make and even more fun to receive!

{snowglobe christmas card}

First, fold a piece of cardstock into thirds. I used an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper, folded it, and then trimmed it down to fit the envelopes I had on hand.

On the center section of your folded cardstock, trace or punch a circle shape. I traced around a candle base and then, since I don't own an exacto knife (tragic, I know) I cut a slit in the center with a pair of scissors and cut out the shape from the middle outward.

Trace the circle on the left half of your folds to give yourself a background template. This will eventually be the backside of your snowglobe.

From an old sheet protector or plastic baggie, cut out a pocket that is slightly larger than your circle, though still fits within the confines of your folds. Tape up all but one side closed.

With a hole punch, punch out a bunch of white circles from cardstock. Make more than you think you'll need, as the "snow" tends to get caught in the corners of the sheet protector.
Fill your bag with the snow and tape the top closed.

Make a background design for your snowglobe. I drew a picture of a tree, but you could also get creative and use cut-outs from colored cardstock, stickers, magazine pictures, or photographs. Let your imagination run wild! Fill the space inside the template you drew for yourself on the left half of the folded cardstock.

With craft glue, paste the plastic baggie with the snow over your cut circle in the center.

Now glue your left fold behind your circle so that your snowglobe is complete. The card should now open as normal.

Put a base, a ribbon, and a quote on the front of your card, outline your snowglobe in dark ink, and shake it up!
